On 13th May afternoon, AMPA, in collaboration with ALASAC, organized an engaging talk focused on gifted pupils, drawing the participation of 30 families. Attendees had the opportunity to listen to an expert speaker, president of the ALASAC association, ask questions, and exchange experiences with other parents, creating a warm and informative community atmosphere.

A brief introduction was given to the reality of the phenomenon of high cognitive ability, with all its specific characteristics. Every neurodivergent child is different. It is essential to raise awareness of these children’s needs in both school and family settings. Talent and abilities that are not identified, nurtured and developed can lead to a long list of problems in personal, school and family life. A society that ignores and neglects children and teenagers with higher cognitive abilities is squandering a wealth of personal resources that could become a driving force for social, economic and cultural development.

The ALASAC association creates opportunities for connection, welcoming families with children identified as gifted, to support and guide them in all their needs. The aim is to normalise early identification and appropriate specialist support in the province of Alicante. ALASAC is seeking ways to involve all members of the education system and early intervention professionals who play a role in the development of these children and young people, by facilitating their training and understanding of specific educational and developmental processes. While adults engaged in discussions, children enjoyed supervised activities under the careful guidance of AUCA monitors, ensuring a fun and safe environment for the youngest participants.

The event concluded with a delightful cocktail prepared by Ausolan, giving families the chance to relax, socialize, and reflect on the insights shared during the talk. According to the feedback received, it was an enriching experience, fostering knowledge, connection, and enjoyment.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported the event.
