CETASEA: A European Project for the Protection of Marine Mammals with a Presence in Alicante

Following its participation in the Springfest, the association invites all families to attend CETASEA Festival 2026, taking place on June 11 and 12 at Casa Mediterráneo

CETASEA, a recognised non-profit association serving the public interest, would like to sincerely thank the AMPA and the European School of Alicante for the warm welcome received during the Springfest, as well as for the opportunity to introduce itself to the entire school community through this newsletter.

Who we are

CETASEA was founded in France in 2015, following nearly twenty years of professional work with marine mammals — dolphins, orcas, seals and sea lions. Since then, the association has developed educational activities, workshops, school interventions, beach clean-ups and the CETASEA Festival, with the aim of building a bridge between society and the marine world through knowledge, emotion and responsibility.

A rehabilitation centre

Officially established in Alicante, the association is currently working on the creation of a marine mammal rehabilitation centre, dedicated both to the care of vulnerable animals and to the development of educational and awareness activities, particularly for young people and schools.

«The Mediterranean is part of our everyday life. Protecting marine life means protecting our shared future.»

The European School as part of the project

The involvement of the European School of Alicante holds particular significance within CETASEA 2026. A group of volunteer secondary school students has taken part, together with students from other schools, in a documentary video project about marine mammals that will be screened during the festival.

In addition, student members of the school orchestra will perform the closing concert of the event on June 12 at 7:30 pm.
