Responsible consumption is not an abstract theory: it is built through small, real gestures. We would like to share some inspiring stories from our community:
- A fan that had cooled a home for 11 summers was sold to a teacher, who used it in her classroom during the hot days of summer.
- Four IKEA chairs, repaired and glued back together, were given to another family who was furnishing their country house. As a sign of gratitude, the family offered a bundle of laurel, thyme, and rosemary picked in the mountains.
- A red bicycle, that had accompanied a child in his first races, was given to another family. The girl who received it used it as her very first bike, and in her hands, it felt new again.
Every object has many lives. What is broken can be repaired. What is incomplete can be completed with new pieces or screws. And what is still useful but no longer needed will surely find someone who can make use of it.
Would you like to share your story in the next AMPA Newsletter? At AMPA we invite all families to share their own experiences of reuse, second-hand, or exchange. Together we can build a space of stories that serve as examples and inspiration, showing that responsible consumption is not about giving things up, but about creativity, community, and gratitude.
