AMPA MC would like to thank all parents who participated in the recent survey on the use of mobile phones at school.
The results of the survey have been shared with the School’s Advisory Council and the Joint Educational Council (Management, teachers, students, parents, EUIPO) and were discussed on 23 June with all stakeholders.
The School has drawn attention to already existing guidelines published in the Secondary School agenda. Electronic devices are addressed in Point 16. At the moment, the school does not see the need for additional rules to these already in place.
We, as parents, certainly have the duty to discuss the existing rules with our children and do our best to prevent excessive use. As always, it is a question of good collaboration between homes and school.
The Student council also has an important role to play in this context and the discussion started with the school management in January 2022 about making the outside space better equipped for social activities should be part of the solution.
The School remains vigilant and from AMPA MC we have asked for feedback from teachers and students and proposed this topic to remain on the agenda of the Educational Council for next school year.

Dear Parents,
Please fill in this micro survey (two simple questions+optional comments) as the AMPA MC needs to assess whether it should (or not) push for the school to better regulate the use of mobile phones on the school premises.
The idea would not be to prohibit the use of mobile phones, but to ask for the school to enforce some boundaries. Please find attached a draft proposal that was presented at the Secondary Educational Council on 09/05/2022 as an initiative of a group of concerned parents for further discussion amongst all stakeholders.
The topic has been on a table of the Educational Council for many years. However, there has always been a concern about the best way to implement it.
We have recently learned that some students in secondary school were making and sharing inappropriate stickers of classmates and teachers. These recent events have not only prompted the school to call in a meeting, but also confirmed to us at AMPA MC the need for a policy for smartphones and other electronic devices.
Any comments on the draft are more than welcome by email to info@ampaescuelaeuropea.com. But most importantly for now would be to know whether you are supportive of the AMPA MC pursuing actions on this.
Thank you in advance for your time and support, as always.
