Dear parents,

The European School of Alicante is taking part again in the mobility programme of the European Schools (including accredited schools). The exchange period is fixed from September to December 2026 (both included) for students who will be in S5 then. The students come to Alicante to keep following their curriculum while at the same time learning to embrace a new school, place, culture, people and language.

Alicante has always been the most popular destination – not only for its sunshine, beach and sea, but surely for the school’s (small) size, (excellent) reputation and (great) combination of languages, Spanish being internationally important beyond the EU. Many come here to learn Spanish as a part of the curriculum but also outside school.

As direct exchanges between pupils have been completed, and our school could possibly accept 4-5 more pupils, we are looking for 4-5 host families for the European Schools’ mobility programme 2026!

Why become a host family?

Being a host family means that you welcome an exchange student around 15 years of age from another school to your family. You can do this independently of the age or participation to the mobility this year of your own children. It could give you an advantage though in getting your own child’s application accepted for a direct exchange with a kid from the desired school. It is also an opportunity to prepare for the future, if one of the children of your family are planning to study abroad or are as yet uncertain.

By welcoming a student from another European School, you might get to know another school, another country, another culture, create many lovely memories together – and even get a friend for life!

Being a host family can be very rewarding, for each and every member of your family. You will all get another person to cherish and an extra sibling for your children. Your everyday-life will possibly get an energy boost and it can be an eye opener or new impetus for existing family routines. You might find out as much about your new family member as you might find out about yourselves. This will be a period you will always remember, as well as your host student will for sure always remember you and your loving family, and the time you spent together.

Please let us know your intention by Monday 27/04/2026 and we can look together into selecting the student for each family and the family for each student.
