During Springfest, 2024 visitors to the school were able to participate in the completion of PIXEL v2, a site specific art project paid for and run by AMPA in conjunction with the secondary School Art and IT teachers.
The project centred around the design of pixelated characters and scenarios for a fictitious video game on an environmental theme. Alongside the classroom activities, the project was also open to Secondary students through a designated website. The results of this exciting project were to culminate in two mural designs to be installed in the entrance of the school canteen.
During Springfest and for the following week, parents, students, teachers, directors, canteen staff and cleaners helped apply over 2800 coloured stickers to the existing white tiles to form the two designs.
The final project is now complete and titled ECO. The tale of ECO can be read in the accompanying story and AMPA is pleased to share with you all the completed images of the project.

“In a time before ours, the spirits of nature defended the habitats of all species.
One spirit in particular, known as ECO, lived in a giant apple from where the world could be seen in all its splendour and beauty.
However, one day, came Spotter, a troublesome one eyed fiend with horns and a trident. Spotter began transforming the subaquatic world into a barren and polluted ocean.
As defender of habitats ECO was compelled to challenge Spotter and his desire to claim and reshape the world for his own selfish desire. An undersea battle raged between them both.
Eventually ECO vanquished Spotter and the kingdom of the waves returned to its former harmony.
But that wasn’t the end of ECO’s challenges. Over the years there have been many adversaries and the tales of ECO’s adventures have been passed down as stories from generations to generations.
