On March 21, 2025, the EUIPO served as the venue for the first day of the «In-Service Training of Management Staff of the European Schools Network.» Organised by the Office of the Secretary General (OSG), this event brought together approximately 130 participants from all European Schools and Accredited European Schools as well as from the OSG. Second day of the event was hosted by the European School of Alicante.
The in-service training sessions are designed to enhance the quality of management provided by Directors and Deputy Directors. Key areas of focus include leadership, professional development, resource management, well-being, and the formulation of (multi)annual plans. These training sessions aim to equip school leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve the overall management and functioning of European Schools.
Topics presented during these two days included:
- Digital well-being by Dr. Colman Noctor
- Artificial intelligence by Mr. Kari Kivinen
- Impact of Technology on Child Development by Dr. Colman Noctor
- Introduction of the new Online Platform for the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) in the European Schools by Mr. Rafael Alba and Mr. Francois Jourde
There were also four workshops presented by different European Shools:
- Fostering Student Wellbeing: belonging, inclusion and diversity by AES Rheinmain
- Servant Leadership in practice by AES Den Haag
- Well-being matters – class time moment by ES Brussels II
- Digital portfolio prototype for the European Schools by ES Brussels II Evere.
A highlight of the event on Friday was the opening of the European School of Alicante’s exhibition, Aqvarium, at EUIPO’s Art Gallery. Training participants, EUIPO staff and members of the school community had the unique opportunity to witness the creative expression of over 400 nursery and primary school pupils. The exhibition also featured a remarkable performance by the Primary School European Hours Choir, adding a melodic touch to the event.
The Aqvarium exhibition provides an excellent platform for the educational community and the general public to admire the artistic talents of young students. Once the exhibition concludes, the final artwork will be installed at the school, ensuring that the creativity and effort of the students continue to be celebrated within their learning environment.
