On Monday, March 24th, solidarity backpacks were delivered in Alfafar to children severely affected by the DANA storm in Valencia. These children lost their school due to this serious incident and have since been displaced from their neighborhood, facing significant difficulties.
The delivery event was attended by Pedro Cecilia, president of the AMPA; Katre Mehine, primary school director at the European School; and Irene Koch, representative of Rotary Busot and teacher at the same institution. They traveled to Valencia to show their support for the families and emphasize the importance of solidarity in difficult times. They were able to see firsthand how the school was reduced to rubble by the impact of the water.
The backpack initiative was led by Irene and was strongly supported by the school and the AMPA. It served as a joint response to provide these children with the materials necessary to continue their education under challenging circumstances. Each backpack contained essential school supplies, as well as messages of encouragement and hope from our primary students to motivate the children to keep moving forward.
This act of solidarity aims not only to alleviate the immediate needs of the children and their families but also to send a message of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
Thank you to all the families for your collaboration!
