During the past term, students across Nursery and Primary took part in Moodsters Mash, a creative wellbeing project developed in collaboration with the school psychologist. This initiative supported children in exploring and understanding their emotions through art, within a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Each student created their own “Moodster”: a friendly, colorful character representing an emotion such as joy, worry, anger, or courage. By giving visual form to their feelings, students discovered that emotions are a natural part of everyday life and that they can be identified, expressed, and managed in positive ways.
The final creations have been brought together in a permanent Moodsters Mash installation within the school. Designed with a warm and playful approach, these characters now serve as a daily reminder that all emotions are valid and that the school is a safe space where they can be shared with confidence.
The students’ original drawings will be showcased during Springfest on May 9th, offering families the opportunity to appreciate firsthand the creative process and emotional growth developed throughout the project.
Based on the principles of Social and Emotional Learning and arts-based pedagogy, Moodsters Mash has helped strengthen students’ emotional literacy, empathy, resilience, and self-confidence.
Once again, this project has been funded through AMPA Dreams, whose support has enabled us to nurture the creativity and emotional sensitivity of our primary students.
