Over the past few months, a series of meetings have taken place at various levels and with different participants about the organisation of the school trips. 

At the system level, the organisation of school trips was discussed at the meeting of the Board of Governors and its preparatory committees. In addition, InterParents has contacted the Court of Auditors. 

As a response to InterParents letter of 16/03/2026, OSG has reconvened School Trips WG and is revising the Guidelines for school trips, outings and visits. InterParents and the European Commission have met the OSG Accountancy Unit and Procurement Cell who have launched a survey to school managements about the school trip organisation. 

At our school level, these sessions brought together school management, teachers, and parent representatives, intended to ensure that this year’s shortcomings will be avoided in the future and that all perspectives were considered in the planning process and to create well-coordinated, memorable experiences that students can truly enjoy. 

The discussions have focused on cost, logistics, safety, educational value, and creating enriching experiences for students. You can find more information in the links to the letters and minutes. 

At the European School of Alicante the preparation of 2026/2027 school year’s trips started in May 2026 and it was agreed that the process will be finalised by the end of September. The S3 and S6 families will pay the first installment of the cost of the trip in October. 

Unfortunately, due to procurement confidentiality clauses, the AMPA’s proposal to revise together the price offers received from the travel agency, and negotiate with the agency to get best value for money, could not go forward. Also, parents’ proposal to agree on a maximum price range for each trip in S3 and S6 was rejected by the school management.
