On March 31, 2025, the school held its inaugural Environmental Committee meeting, bringing together approximately 55 participants, including:

  • Delegates from all classes and secondary sections
  • Members of SAFE Academy, a group of 15 S4 and S5 students committed to environmental protection
  • School’s general director and assistant directors
  • 6 teachers
  • The AMPA sustainability coordinator

A Milestone in Sustainability

This committee marks a significant milestone following the SAFE Academy’s work initiated in October 2024. The meeting began with an intervention by the general director, who highlighted that the SAFE Academy’s sustainability advances reflect the entire institution’s progress. Thanks to their initiative, the school has joined the international Eco-Schools program, aspiring to obtain the Green Flag certification – a recognition for educational centers committed to the environment.

Comprehensive Environmental Audit

During the first semester of the 2024/25 academic year, the SAFE Academy conducted an eco-audit to identify improvement areas in five key domains: responsible consumption, waste management, biodiversity, water conservation and energy efficiency.

Raising Awareness and Taking Action

The students went beyond auditing by:

  • Publishing articles in the school newsletter
  • Delivering presentations at the Christmas concert
  • Organizing awareness talks
  • Developing strategic documents presented to the Administration Committee

These efforts culminated in proposing a roadmap to address environmental challenges and establish conduct codes involving the entire school community.

Establishing the Environmental Committee

In line with Eco-Schools program requirements, the school has formally constituted its Environmental Committee. This group will:

  • Plan and supervise environmental actions
  • Review action plans
  • Coordinate implementation activities

Key Focus Areas

The first Environmental Committee emphasized:

  • Active involvement of class delegates
  • Promoting communication and awareness
  • Establishing a conduct code for proper recycling
  • Correctly identifying and sorting waste types
  • Fostering an environmental responsibility culture throughout the school
