20 Anniversary Springfest donation
AMPA would like to thank all members who participated in the survey on how to spend the funds collected through the wonderful international buffet at the 20th anniversary Spring Fest in our school on 13 May. After deduction for the bouncy castles that were provided by AMPA, the remaining amount is €3268.
The results of the survey are below. You will see that a very large majority voted to donate the money to an NGO and many of you submitted proposals for particular organisations. In total, 15 different NGOs were proposed. Interestingly, 51 parents out of 115 suggested the NGO AEPAE, which is working on anti bullying measures. This sends out a clear message and one that is quite alarming.
During its meeting on 1 June, the AMPA Management Committee decided to donate 50% (€1634) to AEPAE (La Asociación Española para la Prevención del Acoso Escolar).
We will propose to start collaborating with the association from September and sincerely hope this will help minimize bullying in our school.
The remaining 50% will be donated to Sintigo, a local NGO with whom AMPA has been collaborating since the start of the pandemic. Currently they are helping families in need, helping children with homework, helping unemployed people finding a job, helping elderly people, etc.

Children, parents, teachers, staff, contractors, partner organizations, former students, other invited guests…everybody was having a great time together and enjoying the amazing programme on 13 May.
We don’t know exactly how many entry tickets were issued and how many portions of paella were served, but it must have been more than 1000. Visitors mingled all over the school premises, checking out the artwork and the exhibitions, also enjoying the representations of the primary students within after school activities, tasting the incredible variety of sweet and savoury food from all over the world, filling their recyclable goblets with beer and water, chatting with friends, participating in sports and intellectual challenges, listening to talented musicians and singers (somehow a signature feature of our school) and enjoying the not too hot and just a little windy weather.
The school had invited a small selection of external charities with links to the school and they were without doubt happy with the exposure they were given and the results it generated for their respective causes. But perhaps the happiest of all co-organisers was AMPA, who with the help of a large number of committed parents managed to raise 3909 euros as benefits for the good causes you have said as in the survey.
We would like to convey huge thanks to all of those who contributed to the incredible success of the international buffet, cooking, baking, serving and selling tickets. And of course to all of you who made it all worthwhile by buying tickets and telling us that you enjoyed the food and the cakes! Congratulations to the Polish team for their well deserved prize for winning the people’s vote for the most appealing table. However, seeing the small amounts of leftovers at the end of the day, every table was a winner!
Our gratitude also goes out to our AMPA partners, both internal (like Eureka) and external, namely AUCA and Ausolan, for their contributions to everybody’s happiness and well-being throughout the day.
Hard work but so much fun – we are already looking forward to next year!
