Dear S7 Parents,
The written exams are now behind us, and we at InterParents (IP) would like to wish all candidates the best of luck for their oral exams. We also would like to remind you that the IP BAC Support Center is still active. If you have any communications or concerns regarding the oral exams, please use the IP BAC online platform to create a ticket: (https://support.interparents.eu)
We want to clarify that our BAC platform operates informally. Its purpose is to gather your observations and comments about the written and oral exams, including any local issues, in a consistent and effective way and to communicate them to the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) BAC Unit for their consideration.
Before the official results of the BAC exams (both written and oral) are published, no formal appeals can be made by parents or adult candidates. According to Article 12 of the AIREB (Arrangements for Implementing the Regulations of the European Baccalaureate), an appeal can only be made after the final results are communicated. Only then can any administrative or contentious appeals be undertaken.
Until that time, your observations, reservations, or informal complaints help provide an analytical tool to the Chairperson of the Examining Board of the BAC. Based on the BAC regulations, the Chairperson can intervene during the exam procedure (both written and oral) as outlined in the following articles of the AIREB.
Article 5.2: The Chairperson of the Examining Board ensures the standardised assessment (moderation) of the European Baccalaureate written examination marks and final marks, in consultation with the Board of Inspectors.
Article 6.4.9.7: The standardised assessment (moderation) of the European Baccalaureate written examinations is carried out by the Chairperson of the Examining Board and/or the Vice- Chairpersons.
Furthermore, this year the role of Chief Examiner was introduced to assist the inspectors and the BAC Chair with the standardization of the exams and moderation decisions.
Please be aware that in the context of the European Baccalaureate, moderation is a process that ensures consistency and fairness in marking pupils’ exams. It involves reviewing and adjusting the marks given by different examiners to ensure they meet a common standard. This process helps guarantee that all candidates are assessed equally, no matter who graded their exams or where they took them. Moderation is crucial for maintaining the credibility and reliability of the examination system, and the IP BAC platform aims at this with the agreement of the BAC Unit.
Best regards, InterParents BAC Team
