European Parliament questions European School leaders about actions to address critical recommendations in EP Report on the European Schools

On 12 September 2023 European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in support of the report by EP CULT Committee ‘On the system of European Schools: state of play, challenges and perspectives’. This report was the product of a 2+ year extensive investigation by the CULT Committee, and represents the most thorough review of the European Schools undertaken[i]

At a first review meeting in February 2024, the rapporteur Ilana Cicurel (Renew) highlighted the importance of a continued dialogue with the European Parliament.

With the new Parliament elected in June 2024, a new Standing Rapporteur for European Schools has also been elected – Nikos Papandreou (S&D). He invited to an exchange of views on European Schools to provide an update on the implementation of the EP Report that aims to address current and future challenges of the European Schools during the public hearing at the CULT committee meeting on 20 May 2025.
