A huge thank you to all these families who decided to host a student from another European school. Your help to the success of this enriching experience for European School students is very much appreciated. AMPA MC volunteers have managed to find host families for the majority of young people coming from other European Schools to Alicante to spend the first semester of the 2024/2025 school year.

However, there are still 4 boys and 1 girl looking for a family to stay with from the beginning of September until the start of the Christmas holidays. If you feel that you would like to contribute to the success of the program and make these students’ dreams come true, please fill in this link and we will contact you for further details.

You can find more information about the program at the AMPA website or by sending an email to intercambios@ampaescuelaeuropea.com

Host a student for the European Schools’ mobility programme

Some 15-year-old students from European schools across the EU have already found home for their stay in Alicante from September until December 2024 and we warmly thank all the families who have already volunteered! You’ve made these students very happy even if, of course, everyone’s a bit nervous about this new adventure.
We are still seeking over 20 families in Alicante to participate in this enriching experience.

Why host?
Hosting a student through the European School Mobility Programme is a rewarding experience that enhances language skills, fosters cultural exchange, and supports students’ personal growth. It’s also about opening your world to new perspectives and building lasting connections.

Benefits of Hosting

  • No need to have children of the same age as the visiting student. In fact, having an age difference can make the experience more enjoyable as it allows for a more diverse and enriching family dynamic. Younger children often look up to their older visitors, and older students can act as role models, creating a positive and inspiring environment for everyone involved.
  • Opportunity to join a supportive community of hosting families.
  • Potential for your child to be inspired to participate in future exchanges.
  • Exposure to new language skills that can complement and enrich your family’s linguistic environment and cultural heritage.

Mobility students can enroll to use the school bus system and there is a tram and bus stop near the school.

Join us!
The European School of Alicante is the most popular destination in this programme, and we rely on the generosity of families like yours to continue this tradition. Open your home and heart to a visiting student and become a part of this vibrant community.

For more information and to sign up, please visit the AMPA’s online form or send an email to intercambios@ampaescuelaeuropea.com.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a student’s life!

Dear Parents,

The European Schools’ Exchange Mobility Programme is an exciting opportunity for both our school community and students from other European Schools. Next school year, from September to December 2024, we are seeking again over 20 families in Alicante who are open to hosting a student from another European School.

Upcoming Information Session on 10/05

The school’s parents’ association AMPA (Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos)  will organise an online information session on Friday 10 May from 12:00 to 13:00. Please sign up if you would like to attend this session.

If you already know that you want to host an exchange student, simply sign up to the AMPA’s online form and we’ll get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Why Participate in Our Mobility Programme?

The European School Mobility Programme is a unique feature that sets us apart and is a source of immense pride. This initiative not only enhances language skills but also allows students to mature as they navigate and adapt to different educational and cultural environments. It’s an intense developmental opportunity that we are privileged to offer. Read this lovely blog post written by Aitana Verdu (S7DE) who interviewed 6 exchange students who came to Alicante in 2018.

Ideal host families will live in proximity to the European school, though it is not a requirement. For those further away, please note that visiting students can sign up for the school bus system, ensuring transportation is not a concern for you.

Hosting a student is not just about providing a bed and meals—it’s about opening your world to new cultures and perspectives. You don’t need to have children of the same age as the visiting student. In fact, we’ve witnessed remarkable connections between families with young children and our teenage guests. These experiences have been mutually beneficial, filled with learning and inspiration.

Join our community

Last year, our hosting families embraced the visiting students but also came together to organise activities, creating a vibrant, supportive community. It’s a chance to meet other like-minded families you might not have otherwise encountered, enriching your own family’s experience as well.

The European School of Alicante, as the most popular destination in this programme (no surprise there!), is always looking for new families to join our community. This programme could not exist without the generous support of families like yours who open their homes and hearts. As places are limited in each school, your child might get inspired and secure a place if you’ve hosted an exchange student in the past.

Interested in joining?

If you are interested in hosting a student sign up to the AMPA’s online form as mentioned before, or if you would like more information, please sign up to the online information session on 3 May from 12:00 to 13:00. We are happy to provide further details and answer any questions you may have about the process.
